    Dishwasher backing up when cycle is over
    DISHWASHER RUNS AND DRAINS, But iver the next 1-2 days it backs up slowly and the water sits in the bottom if the D/W what is causing this?

    What type of air gap do you have. Counter top or high loop Back to you, Tom

    A air gap prevents the discharge from draining back into the dishwasher. Follow the discharge hose back and tell me what you find. I'll put up a high loop and counter top air gap so you'll know what you have. So what do you have? If you don't have either then that's your problem. Regards, Tom

    The pictures helped, the hose from the dishwasher to drain pipe had fallen down and was laying horizontal, I ties it back up to creat the air gap. Thanks for the info!!
