Custody of our Grandchild in Indiana.
We have permanent guardianship of our 7 year old granddaughter which was willfully signed over to us by her mother in her hopes to stop a CPS investigation of medical and physical abuse. We have raised our granddaughter since she was born... other than 6 months when we had moved out of state.. only to be asked to move back to take care of her because the mother would not. We have went through mediation.. counseling.. etc.. to try to establish a relationship between the two of them. That has not worked. The mother refused to even visit.the child until the court through mediation ordered 3 visits per week. After a few months, the mother became pregnant again.. and the visits stopped. After school was complete for.the year.. we tried allowing our grandchild to stay at her moms for a week at a time.. that lasted two visits until we found that our grandchild had become upset after a couple days and wanted to return home.. only to be threatened by her mother that she would be punished if she told us that her mom refused to allow her to contact us. At that time, we immediately stopped the visits at her mothers home and only allow visits at our home. The mother is a practing witch.. and we have raised our grandchild in our Christian home. This has created a power struggle now. So the mother states that she is going to ask the court to terminate our guardianship. We intend on seeking permanent custody on the grounds that the initial reports of abuse were substantiated by CPS... and with the recent threats towards our grandchild.. feel that the abuse has and is continuing. These verbal threats were witnessed by my wife.. the child is afraid to even go to her moms house without us now. We feel that we should move forward in the court and be offensive instead of waiting for the mother to act and then we would be playing defense! Any and all comments.. info would be greatly appreciated!

Does the child see a therapist? That report could be invaluable.

Is the mother a witch or a wiccan? One is a witch and the other is a religion.

You could always attempt to apply for permanent custody but grandparents don't have a lot of rights.

Where is the father, the mother's family?
