    Drain length
    Hi,

I am considering moving our kitchen sink. I would potentially involve running the drain line for ~14-16 feet from the wall. Is this unacceptably long? Would I have problems with frequent clogging of the drain even if there is an appropriate slope? Any input and suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hi Frankie

The kitchen sink vent needs to connect within 3-5 feet of the kitchen sink drain and then that vent must connect to a vent that goes out the roof, right? Otherwise, the 14-16 feet of pipe shouldn't be an issue.

Run the drain pipe with 1/4" slope per foot of pipe. Run the vent pipe so it pitches from the roof back to the sink drain (about 1/4" pitch per foot of pipe) and install a cleanout under the kitchen sink and at every change of direction that is accessible. You can thank me years from now... :)

    Thanks for the reply Mark.

I am not a plumber but somebody mentioned AAV. Would this work in the described plan?

AAVS are illegal in most states, but if they are legal in your area then yes, that will work just fine.

The only thing to remember here will be to install it under the sink, up high, so it is accessible and easy to change out should the AAV fail in the future, OK?
