    Scotts riding mower
I have a Scotts riding mower made by John Deere with a Kohler 17.5 engine and it will not keep running or run smoothly. I tried cleaning the carb with spray, changed the fuel filter, air filter and fuel, just in case there was some water or something in the tank. It ran great for 15 minutes and I had to turn it off and after restarting, it wouldn't run smooth. The RPM fluxuate and it run really uneven.

    Any ideas??

    Hi,
That engine is a terror on flywheel keys if the engine is not idled down for a few seconds before shutdown. You may have a notched key.
    Peace,
