    How to loosen an old water valve so I can turn it?
    The water valve behind my washing machine will not turn. How do I loosen it up. I have tried wd40 on it. I have not touch this valve since the washing machine was installed about 10 years.

    To start with... have you identified where the main water gate valve to the house is... and does IT work? Before you break this valve and flood the house...

    Try this. Loosen the bonnet packing but located just under the handle and turn the handle counter clockwise. Good luck, Tom
