I just installed a new ceiling light and now the light will now turn off?
The only way to turn the light off is by turning off the circuit breaker. I replaced the switch even though the old one was working but this did not solve the problem. The wires in the light are as follows one bundle of white wires and one bundle of black wires coming from the light and they connect to a black and white wire coming from the ceiling. There is one ground wire on the light also which is connected. I don't really see how the wiring could be set up differently but I must be missing something?

You have to wire the new light exactly as the old one was.

Did you change or break any splices from the ceiling? I suspect yes.

If there is only one black and one white from the ceiling then there is really no way to get it wrong. So if that's the case I have no idea.

Are the only wires in the ceiling box one white, one black, and a ground? What about the box with the switch, are there multiple wires/switches in the box? Something may be touching something that it shouldn't be, completing the circuit.
