I am wanting to buy the Hardcover to complete my collection. I have the paperback. Not picky. Even ex-Lib will do until I find an upgrade. Thanks--Paul

Here's what I would do. This is the WorldCat citation for the hardcover "first edition." It is owned by ten libraries in the world, nine of them in the US. Go to the reference desk at your public library and find out the names of those libraries, then call some or all of them to find out if they will sell their copy to you (and make sure to confirm that it's hardcover). That's how I got an out-of-print collectible book I had been looking for for years. Here's the complete citation to give to the librarian (the OCLC number at the bottom is especially important for him/her to have) --

The prince commands, being sundry adventures of Michael Karl, sometime crown prince & pretender to the throne of Morvania,

    Andre Norton; Kate Seredy
    1934
    English Book Book : Fiction : Juvenile audience viii, p. 1 l. 268 [1] p. front. illus. 20 cm.
New York, London, D. Appleton-Century Co.

Do you want the book published in the year 1934? Or does it not matter what year it was published?

There are only two publication dates: 1934 (hardcover) in London and 1983 (softcover) in the US. The questioner wants the hardcover edition, since he already has a softcover version.

Yes, I read where he wanted the hardcover book. My original question asked, does he want the 1934 published edition? Or does, it not matter, as long as he gets the hardcover book. I take it he, wants the 1934 hardcover edition.

The ONLY hardcover available is the 1934 edition, the "first edition."
