About 2 months ago I injured my lower back I had a ct mylogram done and it showed that I have 2 protruding disc and another disc is ruptured and the fluid of that is lying behind my spinal cord plus there is a bone that is not inline with the other ones in fact its cocked over, pretty painful.Im going for my 2nd round of injections that I get in my lower back 4 to be exact. The question I have it that on the top of my penis it is numb if your looking down at it its on the backside of it, there's also color change where its numb also plus my whole penis is a darker color like a dark red. I have different kinds of pain and numbness in the extremities I also have muscle spasms. I had surgey yesterday they took a camera and check my kidneys and everything was fine from what the DR had seen he says that its related to my lower back. Which nerves control that and would surgery help any of this cause I don't want my whole penis to go totally numb. Thank-you.

The penis is supplied by somatic and autonomic nerves. The somatic nerves supply the sensory fibres and any damage to these nerves will affect the sensation of the penis .

These nerves arise form the spinal cord, at the level of the lower back - the lumbar and sacral area. If your injury was at this level, then the numbness of the penis can be due to injury of these nerves.

Nerves regenerate very slowly and can take up to 6 months for complete sensation to come back. Sometimes regeneration may not occur.

I think you should wait and see for at least 6 months for the sensation to return.
