    Electricity
    I live in South Africa. I bought a dual output generator 6.5 Kw 360/220 volt some time ago.One 220 volt outlet and one 360 volt outlet. It was only later that I discovered that the 220 volt side only gave me about 1.9Kw.Is there a way that I can get the full output (6.5 Kw) at the 220 volt side. Please Help

    Need to check with the manufacturer of the unit to determine what can be done, if anything, to modify the unit's output.

    I doubt it.

    360/220 Volts?

    This sounds like a 3-phase "Y" system, similar to 480/277 or 208/120 systems in North America.

    Another clue is you have only 1/3 capacity on the lower voltage receptacle.

    Doing the vector addition, actual voltages would be 380/220, or possibly 360/208. But since many Americans mistakenly refer to 120 volt household power as "110 volts;" could there be the same confusion in South Africa?

    This is conjecture, not being familiar with either the generator you have, or African power distribution systems, but if I am correct, the 220 receptacle is connected to one phase of a 3-phase generator. It should be possible to connect receptacles to the other two phases, which will give you full capacity of the generator.

    As TKRussell posted, check with the manufacturer, and have a local licensed shop connect the receptacles and install circuit protection as required by local electrical code.
