Can we have Dogs at home? - ISLAM
    Assalam O Allekum,

I am Imran and from many year I had an interest in having pet ( Dog) at home and thinking that its been prohibited in Islam I did not get it. Since I came to know from one of my friend who is also a Muslim that it not prohibited in Islam to have a dog just wanted to be clear with that.

Walikum us sallam wa rahma thu allah hi wa barakatu.
    Dear brother, imran
First of all let me calrify this. IT is not HARRAM to OWN a dog but keeping a dog in the house is not recommended and un-hygienic.
The consequences are that the angel of Rahmat(mercy) donot enter the house where there is a dog.
Also, the saliva of the dog is Najas(unclean) that means if in contact with it the part where the saliva or the dog's mouth or snout has been touched must be Washed.
Therefore I suggest you to own a dog but NOT keep it in your home
You could play and train your dog in the garden or elsewhere. Do not misundrestand that in Islam that the dog is cursed.
However Please consult an Alim(scholar) before taking any step.
ALLAH alone is the all knowing

Hello! I would like advice on how to take care of our dogs when we go away. We have two dogs in our house. We are going away for 4 days, and wonder if they would be happier staying at home alone (with a dog sitter making visits 3 times a day) of if they would be happier being boarded at a kennel...
