    Paying on mortgage while separated.
    I have separated from my wife and live in separate accommodation for the past 4 months I still pay the mortgage on the property do I have a legal obligation to carry on paying as my wife now has changed the locks on the property I have a son age 14 years living at the morgaged address

    Is the mortgage in both names, if so, legally you both are liable.

    The ownership of the home needs to be covered in a separation agreement and/or the divorce agreement

    It can go any way, she takes home and takes over loan, she takes house and you have to pay loan ( happens some times)

    Also have you started paying any child support to her yet. A rough estimate will be 15 to 20 percent of your gross pay, plus 1/2 of medical bills and normally keep him on your medical insurance

    I basically agree with Chuck. However, if both of you are on the mortgage then you share the responsibility for paying. From what you say you two are not sharing, you are markingthe full payment, right. The bank cares little which one of you pays as long as they get their full payment.
