Light portion of ceiling fan does not work with chain or remote
We had pretty much stopped using the remote on our ceiling fan. It had a mind of its own and just hung on the wall. We used the wall switch to operate and then the chain pull to adjust. While cleaning the other day I used a sponge to clean the fingerprints off the remote and some water got into the light button. A few hours later the lights went on and off by themselves several times then stayed out. The fan works fine but I have no lights even if I pull the chain. I opened the remote and the light area on the circuit board was charred. I put a new battery in just to check and the fan worked with both the remote and the chain but the light wouldn't work with either. If the remote controller "burns out" does that affect the total operation of the light. Hope I made this clear. No more remotes for me thank you.
Thanks for any help you can give me. :)
