murray 42 riding mower no spark

I noticed that MOWERMAN2468 answered questions the simple way, so if you are still here, please help.
I am getting no spark at all. This mower was a gift and have no info about it. When I jump the battery it turns over fast and well Model # 42586X9A and I think made in 98. It was running last week. The wiring looks bad and I don't want to take it all apart... yet. Looking for simple fixes first, and then either I give it away or??

    Thanks in advance, Astoria

There is a device that provides the spark, It is called a magneto. As it turns it provides that current to make the spark plug "spark". Trace the plug wire back to it and remove it and take it to a mower repair shop. They are pretty common items and there may be a replacement that will work. If you can, just take a look at the wiring and see if you can see any broken connections without moving too much stuff around.

    Good morning,
Thank you Handyman2007 for that advice. This morning I am going to look at the wiring under the steering wheel as there seems to be a cover plate there and maybe something is loose in there. Maybe a fuse? I like simple.
Hope you have a great day, Astoria

UPDATE 12NOON Fri. Took off the cowling and exposed magneto. It looks new. Removed the black wire that is the only wire to the magneto and tried to start it. Nothing. Spark plugs are new. Removed the 75 amp fuse, checked it and it is good. I also cleaned the rust from the flywheel that runs into / by the magneto. Still no spark. Any thoughts as tp what to check next? Astoria
