How can we get guardenship of a 6 yr old that we have had since he was 2 daysn old?
Both parents were in prison at the time. They have been out for 4 years and have not helped or even tried to get him back. There are 3 children each with a different father. 2 are with relatives. My daughters husbands sister is the mother. We want to put this little boy on our military ins and benefits but need guardenship through the courts. Parents have gotten in trouble again and are waiting for trial, plus mother is pregnant. Again. Relatives will agree to guardenship. Please help. We live in Florida. Thank you.

Simple, you go to your local Family Court and file for guardianship.

How have you been caring for this child without legal guardianship.

Yes, how do you take him to the doctor, enroll him in school, none of which you can legally do with no legal status.

But yes hire an attorney, and it should be easy as long as the mom and dad both are willing to sign to allow guardianship
