I have asked this in a different category, but think this catergory is more appropriate...

I am 10 weeks pregnant, I had prolonged spotting at 6 weeks followed by normal pregnancy symptoms... until now.
On Sunday I had quite bad, but not severe abdominal cramps,followed on Monday by some bleeding. The bleeding was first thing in the morning and like a medium menstrual flow. Spotting continue through the day. The same thing happened yesterday- medium when I first went to the toilet in the morning with some clots, smaller than garden peas...

Today I'm just getting bright red blood, quite light in flow, just when I go to the toilet

The only cramps I had were on Sunday, before any blood came. But now I've got a very mild, dull knotted feeling in my abdomen, a feeling of feeling hungry/ empty. My boobs aren't tender anymore but I have been feeling a bit nausious...

Anyone else had this kind of bleed and cramps in early pregnancy? My doc says wait and see... easy for him to say! :confused:

It annoys me when doctors say just wait and see, it is not them worrying. If I were you I would go to ER and explain what has happened. Good luck, I hope everything is OK. Any bleeding should be investigated thoroughly.

I had similar bleeding early in all of my pregnancies. The first time, my first baby, I was told at around 5 weeks that I was miscarrying, I was told to go home and rest, and go back to hospital 2 weeks later for a scan, and take an overnight bag for the d and c to be carried out. I went back the two weeks later and baby was fine. I carried her until 22 weeks when I ended up going into pre term labour and she was stillborn, but that was not related to the earlier bleeding. My second daughter, I had some bleeding, but it only lasted a day or two, and only very mild crapms. Again I was seen in the early pregnant unit and all was fine. She made it to 34 weeks before being born. My son, same thing again, around 8 weeks, to be honest I didn't even go to the doctors about it. Again a couple of days later it stopped and he was full term baby.

Both of my sisters had monthly period type bleeding through their four combined pregnancies, all with no ill effect.

If you are worried, go back and harass your dr. Don't worry too much about pregnancy symptoms disappearing, they do that at stages along pregnancy for some women, It is generally not a bad sign, as even after a miscarriage your body still contains the hormones so many women still get symptoms for a while after. No symptoms isn't too much to worry about.

Thanks squiffy. That was a help.

I went to the doctors today and I don't think he's experienced anything like this and I don't totally agree with what he said.
He said to go home, go back on Monday (today's Thurs) and if I'm still bleeding he'll send me for a scan. The bit I don't agree with is he said to take a pregnancy test on Monday and if it says positive, I've not miscarried! Even I know you can get a false positive up to 35 days after a miscarriage!

I'm thinking about saying I'm still bleeding even if I'm not, just to get the scan... is this wrong? Due to the prolonged spotting early in pregnancy it's been "am I, aren't I, am I, aren't I?"... (pregnant) for the last 4 weeks... Just as I knew for sure I definitely was pregnant, I start bleeding again... I just want to know and hate this "wait and see" method...

I almost stopped bleeding last night but today it started again (friday), a little heavier than before, but I'm still only using panty liners instead of panty pads... no cramps or pain though and my "morning" sickness was quite strong yesterday and today. Would I still be getting nauseous if I'd miscarried?

Also, I'm asked if I've passed any tissue, but I don't know how to gauge it? I had very small clots on Tues, today are minuscule "stringy" bits in the blood, which could be small amounts of discharge coming out with the blood, they really are very hard to see, is this tissue or discharge? They look like 1mm long bogey's! (sorry for the graphic description, but I don't want them to sound worse than they are!)

I as well was pregnant recently and I had the same thing happen to me I even had emergency ultra sounds and everything was fine. A couple of weeks ago I went to a normal check-up with the doctor and their was no heart beat my baby was gone. I had to have a D and C done that day and I just can't seem to get over it. I know this isn't something you want to hear but, I had the same symptoms you do. I would go to the doctor immediately and have things checked out. Good Luck and I hope things are different for you.

I need to update this...

I waited to see if I was still bleeding, as my doc requested. I was, so on day 8 he finally sent me for a scan. They confirmed there was no feutus, but saw a shadow that could have been the miscarriage, could have been the 3mm fibroid they saw last time... they were unsure so gave me a blood test. A doc gave me an internal and said he was sure it wasn't ectopic as I had no pain. He expected bloods to show HCG hormones of around 1000, any more and they'd keep me in for obs... they came back at 14,000!

An emergancy op later... the bad news...
I had a rare ectopic, where the feutus implanted in the corner of my uterus, just inside my tube. I was 12 weeks pregnant and the lump was half the size of my uterus, throbbing and hours from rupture, which would have meant a certain hystorectomy, possible death.

The cause... a cesairian section for my first baby, which the epidural didn't work and I was trying to get off the table, screaming. They were forced to do their best, but it resulted in the worst scarring my surgen had seen in 30 years. My uterus had fused to my stomach at the front, the edge of it smeared across my tummy where the drain had been. The surgeon was preparing for a hystorectomy as my blood was splurting out like a geezer. Fortunately, mt womb was saved but I have lost a tube and have a 10-20% likelihood of having another ectopic pregnancy.

All in all, a very upsetting, traumatic experience which could have resulted in my death, or lack of fertility... instead it havs more than halved my fertility but at least my son still has his mummy.

If you have any bleeding, please, please ignore docs who keep saying wait and see... go straight to A&E, exaggerate the pain if you must. A scan may not stop a miscarriage but it could save your life...
