What happens to a person when he violates his probation over ten years ago
I too have a violation of probation hanging over my head in my home state. Its been there for a little over ten years now and the violation was for failure to report. I was giving, 5 years suspended after 18 months with 3 years of probation. I did all my time, but when I got out I was only 20 (which is no excuse) I lived with a friend who wasn't exactly a law abiding citizen. He got arrested about a month after I got out but thankfully I was already long gone. I haven't been in ANY TROUBLE and even went to college to earn a degree since I left but Im thinking about going home. My question is what kind of trouble do you think Im facing? I recently talked to my probation officer and he told me he would help me since this is so old and I haven't been in any trouble. Im not naïve, so Im not really buying into his (Help) suggestion but hopefully Im not in too much trouble if I do go home.

If they issued a warrant, its in all likelihood still standing and valid. Perhaps if you hire a lawyer to make any such enqiuries there might be a way to resolve it.

Your lawyer could answer that question better than any of us can... its all dependent on what the local DA decides to go after. Or what can be negotiated which will in all likelihood be something much less.
