Constant water running and no faucets are open
I has a new well just a couple months ago. It makes a constant thumping noise in the pump room well company says it's normal and it's not. Now I hear constant water running through the copper pipes and tracked the sound to my laundry room but it doesn't stop. There are no leaks. What can it be? It's after 1:30 am and I have no idea who to call!

How did you determine sound was at laundry room? Is your pressure gauge moving? Is your pump going on without the use of water?
Call the well company and tell them to correct the problem. If they say it is normal, tell them you will call another company in and if they are to fault will sue them.
Most companies are very reliable and should respond without having to go to that extreme.
Let us know these answers and the outcome
Good luck

More details please. The well company is blowing smoke up your skirt. If you hear thumping then there's a problem. What type of pump? Thumping from where? The tank? The pump? The pipes? Where? What does your pressure gage read when you hear the water running? Back to you, Tom

Chuck... I followed the sound of the rushing water to feel it in the copper pipes above my water softener. What I could not tell was if it was coming from the main or those into the water softener!
I had them out the same day they drilled and put the new pump in. They said it was a pipe knocking against the dry wall and it's not. I just called and they said if it bothers me for $400 they would come and move it into the ground outside! I hate these people!
Tom (speedball1)... The thumping appears to come from the tank or should I say the unit they installed in the water closet. It's in my lower level under the stairway so you hear it reverberate through out the house! Out of fear something major was going on in the night I turned my softener of and put it on bypass. It stopped in about two hours. It is an FPS submersible pump.

You bypassed your water softener and the thumping stopped and then started up after 2 hours? Will that happen every time you bypass the softener? Let me know, Tom

Yes the pressure appears to be fine but with that rushing water the Gage was higher
No Tom the thumping is always every five minutes in use or not the bypass only helped with the water rushing!

The thumping's not normal and they say that it is I'd take them to court. Good luck, Tom

Constant running water noise, old water softener pipes?
[ 3 Answers ]
When we bought our house, it came with a decommissioned water softener in the laundry room. The pipes behind it (I'm assuming in and out) were capped off with plastic plugs that toggle back and forth. If you're familiar with Dr. Dolittle, I'd call it a pushmi-pullyu setup. (sorry, I'm an admin, not...
