CPA's Lung Cancer and a loan
My boyfriend has lung cancer and all of sudden his sister put a lien on the house. Mike was behind and she hired a CPA although she was told he could get one free. Now we are getting the bills for the CPA. Now my question is are we liable since we did not want to use their CPA and wanted to use a free one. Mike was worried he owed back taxes. So far so good. But he has never contacted us to let him know anything. Mike is to sick to remember to call or doesn't feel like.

This guy told Mike he 2003 done and he didn't owe anything. Mike asked him to call the IRS and let them know that he was working on them. 3 day's before Mike got his first disablitliy check they sent a letter of intent to levy for his checking account.

It's been 2 weeks and we haven't heard anything about the other taxes. I wonder if he got them because his sister made a big production of taking them to him her self although, it is several miles out of their way.

As of to date we owe her 25,000. While we were there she quickly added another $10,000 for his income tax. Something stinks in Denmark. What do you think?

This doesn't make sense. Mike was behind with what?

"She" hired a CPA on HIS behalf and now he owes the bill?

    Tht makes no sense.

You can't just "put a lien" on property. You need a judgment to do that. Did "she" get a judgment?

I have no idea what the connection between bills for the CPA AND IRS could possibly be.

I think you had best re-ask the question, but clearly this time. As JudyKayTee said, his sister cannot just "put a lien on" his property simply because she took it upon herself to hire a CPA to do the taxes.

Yes, this question is confusing. Why does him having lung cancer have anything to do with things.

What would he be behind in that required a CPA? And I don't know of any CPA that works for free. Maybe some pro bono work on occasion.

I will add, if you did not want to hire this CPA, who gave the CPA the documents they needed, if you did not want him, you don't use them, you tell them so and don't give them documents. Once you started providing them documents you agreed to the hiring of the CPA
