Marriage will not make him a citizen of the US. It may grant you dual citizenship to Bulgaria though. He would still need to get and passprot and a visa to come to the US for anything more than a visit.

We tried this me and my wife got married in the US, she is American I'm Canadian, when we came back from our honeymoon into the US I had trouble getting in even though we said we were going to file the proper paperwork for me to be a US citizen, they almost denied me entry until we proved I was leaving the US soon.

The process is very long and costs about 1500 USD (this was 3 years ago, may have changed) for all the documents, phots, background checks. He will most likely have to stay in his home country until it is approved, but he should be able to come in for a visit while it's being processed.

In the end it was such a hassle that she came to Canada where marriage means a bit more (from an immigration standpoint I mean) and the paperwork moves a bit faster and costs less and she is getting residency here.

He will need a passport and a visa to come to the US, he can not automtacticly come.

I have a two friends, one who is an attorney, and they have been working almost 5 years or so to get their spouse citizenship after getting here on a visa.

I had another friend who did it somewhat illegally and their spouse was deported. So they need to be getting all of their paperwork together and you need to be contacting INS since they have a lot of rules on this
