Me and my friends like to have breath-holding contests when my parents aren't home
Is it okay to hold my breath in contests because I have athsma and whenever I do my chest hurts and it feels like I can't breath. I don't want to tell my friends about my athsma because it is embarrassing so I can't tell them that my chest hurts or they will find out!

No, it's not okay whether you have asthma or not. Depriving yourself of oxygen KILLS brain cells.

Asthma should never be embarrassing. I knew a girl who was embarrassed by her asthma, never told anyone and guess what... she's dead now. If she told people about her asthma she might be alive today.

If they make fun of you they aren't your friends right? That inhaler can keep you ALIVE!

If they make fun of you for that, they are not friends at all.

If you are underwater, the same holds true. You'll become unconscious and drown.

Yes, if your friends make fun of you for a inhaler, they are not friends, an inhaler keeps you from dying.

You should have your inhaler with you at all times, and always one close, Your friends need to know about it, because when you have an attack, they may need to get or help you with getting your inhaler.

I have had one and used one almost my entire life. There may be restrcitions of activieis you can not do, some sports, and something will cause you trouble breathing

Ah, the stupid things we do to keep people that aren't really our friends.

If they're your friends, they'll understand. If they don't understand, they're not your friends. Either way, they're idiots that think holding their breath for sport is cool. It's not cool, it kills brain cells, and the fact that you all think it's cool and do it, shows how many brain cells you have already lost.

Stop being a fool. You know this isn't okay, so stop doing it before you lose so many brain cells that you can't even write a question on this site. You're close, and getting closer every time you do this.

Use your brain, it was given to you for a reason.
