Dr. Bob, I had a EtG test at 5:00 o'clock today (Tuesday) and I drank about 10 beers in a 6 hour period till about 5:00am Friday night (Saturday morning) so that gave me about 83 hours from LAST SIP. I'm 175 pounds and am always in the gym and constantly drinking water (NEVER ALCOHOL)... What are the chances of me passing??

The test very seldom detects even very heavy consumption beyond about 72 hours.

What is your gender, age and weight?

Also do you know the cutoff level of the test?

I'm 22 years old, male, 175 pounds. I wouldn't be as worried if I wouldn't of read all the forums about these tests reaching up to 5 days I'm in very good shape but I sill am worried

Its for probation so I'm assuming its something serious I'm not sure what that means though

All of the information on 5 days is unfounded. But due to the unpredictability of this test you should always be worried after consuming that quantity.

There is very little chance of failing at that time span given the facts you provided.

Please report back with your results.

Here are a couple of cases from this site that have reported back as passing and are close in time and amount

1) 69 hours from last drink, 10-11 beers, M-23-160 lb. consumed in 7 hours >LINK

2) 55 hours, 11+ drinks, M-204 lbs, 6' 2” >LINK

3) 68 hours, M-170 25 yrs, 4 drinks on Saturday, drinking consecutive days (drank 4 beers on Thursday and 10 beers on Friday >LINK

Well I appreciate your input on my situation and please if there is anymore info that will better help you give me a more supporting answer I would appreciate it... I know its been less than 80 hours from my BAC being .0 and that's what scares me

Just calculating your BAC at completion of drinking, 112 approx and figuring an elimination rate of .017 ph you would have been at BAC=0 in about 6.5 hours. (That's pretty close).

That allows 76.5 hours for clearance. When calculating from BAC=0 EtG clearance should be in neighborhood of 60 hours or under.

In predicting EtG/EtS clearance the only thing that can be drawn upon is previous research (little of it) and experience. It is possible you could have detectable EtG... Not at all likely. The test simply doesn't perform as advertised.

EtG/EtS testing usually has a cutoff below which it would not be detected and if detected not reported. It could be 100, 250, 500, 1000 or 2000*. The most common being 100 and 500. The higher the cutoff, the less sensitive the test.

*nanograms per milliliter ng/mL. A nanogram is one-billionth of a gram
