    Kenmore dryer won't start
Hello, I have a kenmore 90 series dryer (model 11060832990) and it is approx 6 years old. I started it yesterday and it worked fine but it stopped running with 20 minutes left on the timer and now it will not restart. When you push the start button the timer runs but nothing else and if you leave off the start button the timer stops. I have checked the door switch and that seems okay. I took the dryer apart but could not find any obvious signs of anything wrong, other than the heater element board is starting to crack apart. I am leaning toward the timer being bad but I have to get more time to test the fuses and switches, any help would be appreciated! Thanks!!

If this is an electric dryer it will probably need a new thermal fuse , located the on the back of the dryer neat the exhaust vent, you will have to take the panel off to see it. It is white and about 1 1/2 long by 1/4 wide.

I have the same problem with my Kenmore 80 series dryer. I thought it might be the timer, so I pulled it out. Now I am not so sure. I think I will try a new thermal fuse because I remember the dryer not heating sometimes when I turn it to a hot dry setting.

You need to tear the drier down and clean it if it is 6 years old. Take every part apart that moves air. Clean out blower fan and all of these parts by washing them out, except motor which you vacuum out. Then check fuses located near element and on the air ducts which are oval, attached with two screws with two wires plugged onto them. They are wired in series so if one opens no power flows. They will open when drier gets too dirty and is a fire hazard. Driers were the number one cause of house fires a few years ago until they put in all of these safety fuses. Replace the bad one which will probably be the one nearest the heating elements behind the drum. Clean drier very well and clean out vent pipe because if you miss anything the fuse will blow again and they are expensive sometimes. Look on YouTube for instructions, but do a better job by washing and scrubbing out parts. DrTom4444

Thermal fuse is open. Needs replacing. About15 bucks at a local parts store. Also clean the vents and blower motor or the new fuse will blow! You can look up on YouTube on how its done. Very easy fix!!
