How is decidual bleeding associated with a period?
I'm wondering is what I experienced was decidual bleeding or a normal period. I just read that decidual bleeding can mimic a normal period and can confuse some women who think they might or might not be pregnant. I've had all kinds of pregnancy symptoms, except I was still having my period (so I believe). My periods are usually a 28 day cycle, bleeding 6 - 7 days. For 2 months I was 2 days late, then the next month 1 day early. Last month I was a day late, but only bled 2 days, then it skipped a day, and started again. It ended on the 27 of April. I spotted on the 29th. I took an htp the morning of the 30th, the results were negative. I also read that decidual bleeding can throw your hormones all out of whack, and a positive may not show up until you're around 3 months. I've gone to the doctor 5 months ago and it was a false alarm. This time I'm wondering because of all the symptoms I'm having. I recently posted asking about if the sudden cravings I now have is related to pregnancy, but all I got were answers about sinus problems or suggestions about other peppers to try. (Sorry No Help On That One!! ) Anyway, I'm seriously asking about the decidual bleeding, because when I was pregnant with my first child, I didn't have any symptoms of pregnancy at all. I mean I was still having what I believed was my regular period for 3 months, although it skipped a few days as well. When a co-worker looked in my eyes, she told me I was pregnant. I took an htp and it was negative also. 2 days later my doctor confirmed that I was already 3 months along and didn't know. Do hpt's ever show a BFP if you have decidual bleeding? If so, how much longer should I wait to take another test to get a BFP? I know a person can dwell in that so much that their body and mind plays rotten tricks on them. I wasn't even thinking about another baby. My son is grown and I believe I'm too old now anyway. My boyfriend and I are in our 40's. I though I must admit to one big error. We were using the withdrawal method and we both know better than that! Hopefully it's just my hormones that are only out of whack, and not decidual bleeding!

Decidual bleeding is more due to your hormones fluctuating, which can happen in early pregnancy, other than decidual bleeding causing the hormones to be off.

Yes, you can get a positive result on a pregnancy test, but some women do not test because they believe that they are still having periods, albeit irregular ones perhaps.

It is not uncommon for periods to be off a couple of days here or there and, given your age, it is even more likely for that to occur.

Certainly pregnancy can be a possibility. Since you didn't find out until later with your son, it is possible that that is just the norm for you.

I'd wait until next month and see what happens with your period at that time.
