Garbage disposal waste coming up through bathroom sink.
    Hi.

This morning, some food waste from the garbage disposal (kitchen) has been coming up through the adjacent bathroom sink when we run the dishwasher.

The food appears to be from a few nights ago (we haven't run the washer for a few days).

I've seen this happen with the food backing up into the kitchen sink, but I've yet to see this happen in other rooms.

    Any ideas? Advice?

    Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you have a blockage downstream from the bathroom sink, (how does it drain?)

Do you mean the dish washer?
This problem can be addressed from the lavatories roof vent. Put out enough snake to reach the base and 16 feet more. Flush with a sink full of hot water. Good luck, Tom

The bathroom sink drains slowly, leaving the food waste behind. The waste water bubbles up (only slightly) in the kitchen sink, but the bathroom sink fills up fairly quickly.

And yes, I meant the dishwasher in the kitchen.

So, I need to run a snake down through the roof vent? The bathroom is located on the first floor (of two). Does that matter? Unfortunately, I'm not the homeowner, and I have no idea what I'm doing, heh!

Thank you for the quick reply!

OK! So you don't want to get up on the roof. There is another way. Rent a Ridged K-30 sink snake. Make very sure you gel a drop down auger tip so you'll go down the drain and not up the stack. REmove the lavatory trap and send the snake up into the wall. Put out at least 20 feet and flush with hot water. Good luck, Tom
