    What is the maximum that can be taken from a weekly Check? Can the leave you with nothing?

    ANY question on law needs to include your general locale as laws vary by area.

    Generally the max is 25% but it varies according to local laws and the reason for the garnishment.

    It does differ greatly, it also depends on what it is for debt, child support, spouse support, back taxes and more.

    In some cases they can take up to 50 percent, but 25 percent is the norm.
