    Can a volunteer sue for defamation of character - being accused of wanting to steal money.

    I doubt it. Wanting and doing are two different things.

    And what do you mean "volunteer"? Probably doesn't make any difference.

    First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on another thread. This can lead to confusion. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

    Anyone can sue anyone over almost anything. The question is whether one can win a suit.

    We would need a lot more of an explanation to judge.

    As pointed out being a volunteer has no bearing. And people have a right to express their opinion. Someone saying they think you want to steal, is not a statement of fact.
