    Ip address not getting renewed
    Hi guys,
I am having problems in getting/renewing my ip address. It just shows the 169.xxx.xxx. Etc and subnet mask of 255.255... which is no good.. In the LAN settings etc it says that the operation failed because IP address could not be renewed.I have tried cmd ipconfig/renew & ipconfig/release.But doesn't helps. That also gives me all sorts of different errors.
I have spoken to my ISP.But they are saying there is some problem from my end.
Friens I am not really a big internet or computer guy.

    So please help.

    169.

Sounds like DHCP server is not responding correctly. Windows automatically sets IP with 169 at the front if DHCP is not responding. Might be the case in your situation. Does your ISP provide you with your IP address? And what encapsulation you using if you do etc?
