    Pain after wisdom Tooth Extraction
My daughter has 4 non impacted wisdom teeth removed 6 days ago. After the numbing meds wore off, she had a lot of pain. The dentist gave her pain meds but after 4 hours she needed another pill. Two days ago she was still in a lot of pain and went back to the dentist. He said there was no dry socket or infection that he could see however she is still in constant pain. The dentist gave her another pain med prescription but as of today (almost one week after extraction) the pain is still as intense as it was days ago. Could she have an infection that is under the gum and can't be seen?

Where is the pain eminating from exactly or is it migrating? Are there any signs of swelling? Careful with the pain meds as some can become very addicting even after a few doses.

The pain is coming from the two lower spots. Not a lot of swelling but both sides of the gums are very very tender to the touch. She is also getting migranes. She never gets migranes. She is also trying not to take the meds because she wants to see what the level of pain is so she can tell if it is subsiding or not. She is going to call the dentist in the morning if it is not better.

It is a good idea that she sees the dentist again. If it was a difficult extraction there is a possibility that her jaw was displaced during the procedure. Also there may be some swelling of the lymph nodes. (normal).

Jaw pain and headaches go hand in hand because of the network of nerves associated with the tooth. Eveyone is different in how it works. But its not uncommon not unheard of.
