Insurance companies won't take us because of "dangerous dog"
About a year ago, a UPS woman was dropping off a package at our house when our dog barked at her and ran towards her. She turned around and while running back to her vehicle, ended up falling and hitting her knee on our walkway. She had to have 5 stitches in her knee, and UPS sued us. Our insurance company paid, and that was that.
Fast forward to now, our insurance company is dropping us due to "too many claims." We tried to find a different company, but NO ONE will take us because we have a dog injury claim.
Our dog, Daisy, did not even bite the woman. She is not on the list of dangerous dogs. She is constantly chained up because of the strict leash law in our state. I feel terrible that she has to be chained all the time. I feel like my dog did nothing but act in her nature. She is very protective and if any stranger approaches our house, she barks like crazy. Our house was broken into multiple times, and since we got her about ten years ago, no one would even have a chance at coming into our yard unnoticed.
So a few insurance companies said they would take us... if we had her put down. She did NOTHING to deserve to be killed. We can't give her away to someone, because she doesn't trust anyone but us, she hates strangers. She would be miserable any where else.
Does anyone have any kind of advice on how to find an insurance company that would understand that we should not put her down? I love my dog more than anything, and I can't stand the thought of putting her down needlessly, because some company is too self-centered to help us.

Sorry, but Daisy was not properly trained or you did not provide sufficient warning about her presence. So this is primarily on you.

I am surprised you can't find anyone to insure you. Your rates may be skyhigh, but someone should take the risk, especially if you take certain precautions. For example, maybe if you install an intercom so tradespeople and visitors can contact you to secure Daisy before entering the property.
