    Child support
I am adult now, when I was a child my mother attempted to take my father for child support. He paid child support 1 time in a 10 year span. Is it possible for me to now try and collect the back child support owed? If so, where would be a good place to start?

Did your mom ever go to Child Support Services or is there an order for Child Support?

You would not be entitled to child support owed. Also called arrears. That is for your mother (custodial parent). If your mother has passed then you may be able to collect on it provided there was an existing court order for child support. If there has been no order for support then it is too late now for anyone to collect.

This section of AMHD is a little different then the other sections in that answers should pertain to the law that applies to the OP (original poster). The standards are a little different here. Please be aware of this when attempting to answer questions in the law section of AMHD. Thanks.

We try not to just guess or think the answer is correct and we have a pretty good track record to stand on.

If she went to court and got a court order, she can go and attempt to collect back support up to the rules and laws of the state where the court order is out of. She ( not your) is entitled to the money. If she is passed away, her estate may or may not be entitled to it.
