A negative reading can happen. Are you using the first urine of the morning ? Wait one more week and try another test.

I have tried first urine. Still negative. And not under any abnormal stress. My period is usually very normal and right on time. Never been more then 5 days late.

It's possible it is just an off cycle, even if you are normally very regular. It is also possible that you are pregnant and the tests just haven't picked it up yet. Some women get a positive right away, others find it takes a blood test to confirm.

You could either wait another week, as Fr_Chuck suggested, just to see if your period does show up late (waiting would also allow for a higher level of hcg to be present if you are indeed pregnant), or you could see your doctor.
