My water goes from no water to some water
I bought a foreclosure. The house has been empty for 3 years. The water pressure is horrible. It goes from a drip to normal and back to a drip in 10 seconds... sometimes it will stay normal for 2-3 minutes and then back to a drip. I am on a city system that was annexed in with a pumping station to my area which is up a large hill. I was told by the water board that "every one up there has that problem"... I asked all the neighbors and they don't have this problem. I contactred the previous owner and he did not have this problem. I contacted the owner before him and was tild they had that problem for 10 years until the pumping station installed a new pump and it corected it. HELP PLEASE!

    Hi RP

Check the main water supply coming into the house for a PRESSURE REDUCING VALVE (see image). If you have a pressure reducing valve it is possible that the screen is plugged and simply needs to be cleaned.

Look for that and also check for a whole house filter system... could also be plugged.

Let me know what you find...

It is very possible there is blockage within the water line, I have this in about 1/2 of the houses I buy that have set for more than 2 years. You will need to actually disconnect at meter and check pressure there to see if this is a city or a house issue.
