Should I really break it off?
I've been dating my current girlfriend for 2 and a half years. Recent events have kind of made things a bit rocky. I was texting another girl when me and this other girl were both drunk... And things were said that shouldn't have been. However, I never acted on the requests, nor had a plan to. We were just being drunk and stupid. I chose not to tell my girlfriend right when it happened, which I know was a mistake, but word eventually got to her through some friends. I'm not upset she found out, but she heard that this happened last September... And has been acting weird since, and just told me about her knowing this week.
This whole situation ended up with me asking for some time to do some soul searching. I asked to talk with her tomorrow about the whole situation, and I wish I wouldn't have because I'm sitting here at 3.30 AM trying to think of what I can say to her. I love this girl, and I told her I wanted to marry her... But I'm just not sure anymore. She's hands down my best friend and I never want to see her unhappy, but we're different people that want very different things in life.
It's just hard and I know this is a bit of a rant, so I am sorry. Anyone with a bit of advice for me out there?

Phain, your best bet is to be honest with yourself and her. I'd guess you're really not ready to commit, and that's kind of nagging at you. You know you had a moment when it seemed appropriate to verbally fool around with another woman, and that probably made you wonder if maybe there's more to it than that. Maybe you want to see someone else now before you commit rather than cheat on her later.

Tell her that you love her and are feeling bad about the texting episode and that you don't want to make a permanent arrangement with her until you're sure you've got yourself under control. I think she'll appreciate that.

Or you can just tell her you are feeling bad about yourself right now and want to continue your relationship with her if you and she can talk this out and come to some sort of agreement on how to handle it emotionally.

Or you can just tell her you love her and let everything continue as it has been. Your choice.

You don't mention your ages, which might make a difference in the answers you'll get, but that's my take on the situation given the facts you've shared.

    Good luck!

If you two wants very different things in life, you should call it off before it gets too far and it causes more conflict down the road. You should talk to her to see whether u guys want to stay together or go your separate ways.
