Scott mower Kohler Command 17.5 won't stay running
I have a Scott, Kohler Command 17.5 riding mower by John Deere that always starts but recently it will not keep running. It seems like its starving for fuel or that something is interrupting the fuel flow. I can usually get it to work long enough to get through one acre but yesterday, no matter what I tried, it wouldn't stay running for more than three or four minutes. If you could share some ideas I can probably find the cause and fix it but I am currently at a real loss.

I've got a new Briggs and Stratton push mower I used only about 4 times without any problems. Started on the 1st pull. Today it starts on the 4-5 pull and runs about 2 seconds and stops. The filter and spark plug look fine and yes it has gas and oil. Any ideas what to check next? Tekajake
It is almost new, used only a few times, then stored (with gas in it) for 1 1/2 years. Now got it going a little, but it won't stay running and is not going to full RPMs. Briggs&Stratton 3.5 engine on MTD mower.
I have a Briggs & Stratton riding mower. At first when it got too hot, it would die. Now, it seems like it's getting too much gas; I smell fuel. It won't start. Any thoughts?
Mower starts but dies in 2 secs. With the air cleaner off I can keep it running by choking it with my hand. Newer briggs 6 hp. Any thoughts please!
