n.c. advanced supervisory release
Under this new law, I have a Friend with 2 Felonies totaling 10 years 6 months in a plea bargain that was sentenced AFTER January 1,2012 and was committed BEFORE December 1, 2011. How does it get into the ASR Program and as I read it, it states without objection from the prosecution! How is the prosecution, in ANY case, going to allow a ASR program to go into effect for a felon that they are responsible for getting them behind bars.

Because prisons are over crowded and getting the conviction for their records is what is important, the conviction. They are behind bars because that was the sentence for the crimes.
Thus the same reason about 75 to 80 percent of all cases are plea bargained not fully tried in court. They want to clear the cases, have a conviction ratio that makes them look good. With the exception of a few cases they take personal, they are just part of the system, |
