Dental and mouth problem after 4 yrs. Of head & neck radiotherapy.
My Husband is 54 yrs. Old. He had tongue cancer and he was successfully operated by renowned oncologist in April 2008. His tongue of about 2 cm and right side lymph node were removed. He is completely fine now.

    1. But he has persistent dry mouth problem after radiotherapy. This unables him to swallow food. What is the precise remedy to regenerate saliva? On liquid diet, he is as active as before. However, if mouth discomfort is reduced somewhat and he can take regular meal, it will bring a joy for him. According to Doctor he has hardly any chance of recurrence of cancer as it was early stage ( between 1st and 2nd stage). Let me say that he does not have teeth now which is also a problem why he can not chew and swallow food. One denture as permitted by surgeon has been made but it did not suit to him. Can you suggest

    i. Remedy for saliva regeneration or support
ii. Suitable soft Denture compring only required number of teeth in such cases.

In addition, he has deep blackness on right cheek after radiotherapy four years ago and it is still there. Please suggest remedymedicine / vitamin / skin treatment etc to cure the spot.

Thanks in atnicipation of detailed advice.

    I will address the chewing,

Because of medication I take for asthma I ended up losing all of my teeth. I have a set of dentures and they are OK. The soft is much better for the bottom.

    BUT.
To be honest except for pickles I have not found anything I cannot eat without any dentures at all. I can do fried chicken, hamburgers, corn dogs, pizza. Make sure things are cooked well done. And cut to smaller bits, It just takes effort and a little training to chew with your gums. But it does work.
