What do ticks and fleas look like?

I have a golden retriever named Skipper, and 2 pugs named Handsome and Candace. They all have ticks and fleas. They're so disgusting. I found a site that will show you pictures of ticks and fleas: Ticks and Fleas Images

What I did was went to my vet and got a prescription. He told me to use a syringe without the needle and pump at least 2ml of the medicine and apply directly to Skippy's nape. My vet only recommended to apply 1ml on my smaller dogs Handsome and Candace.

The main thing to be careful about when removing them after they have started feeding is that you gently pull the tick out. You want to make certain you do not leave the head behind. It can cause an infection even if the tick is not a disease carrier.

Fleas are tiny and very dark. They dart quickly into the fur when you examine the pet, and unless there are tons of them they can be hard to find. Once they get everywhere, however, they are EVERYWHERE. They will hop like jumping beans from the floor to your legs, and the only way to get rid of them then is to buy 'bombs' that are spray cans with a latch on top that holds the button down while you run out of the house. You need one can for each room. You will find dead fleas even between your mattress and box spring. If your pet just has beginning infestation, get some Frontline Advantage and apply to the back of the neck. Of course do that if the whole house needs to be bombed too. People and pets leave while the bombing takes place.
Ticks are more visible and slower moving and you can see all their legs. They are very small before they attach to the skin and then they swell up as big as a pea. Grab them as close to the skin as possible to remove an send them down the drain. Same with the small moving ones.
Frontline will kill both fleas and ticks. Ticks don't multiply in the house and infest it they way fleas do.
