    Two pups with parvovirus
Ok, so here is my question. I have two pups, 9 weeks old. My german shepherd got sick first, and we didn't take her in until the next day when the border collie got sick. The border collie throws up occasionally and doesn't have much energy or appetite, but she will eat treats. The German shepherd, however, throws up almost constantly, every time she gets medicine or pedialyte. Yesterday she started throwing up blood. I called the vet this morning, and she said as long as she's willing to stand up and move, we shouldn't give up on her, but I'm so scared that by keeping her around, I'm just making her suffer longer when she's not going to make it. She's lost 5 pounds since Wednesday, and her eyes are dull. Also, when she throws up and it's NOT blood, it's this thick, slimy stuff that hangs from her mouth, or bubbles from her mouth. Any advice? I know there are many dogs who can survive this, and I want to know if anyone has had a dog this sick that has come back to them?

Has parvo been diagnosed? If so then the best place for these dogs is at the vet. Pedialyte alone cannot cure parvo. It's a deadly disease, and not many dogs survive it even with the proper treatment, but it's definitely not something that can be treated at home.

I'm not going to lie to you. If this is parvo then there's a high fatality rate. More dogs die from parvo than survive it. But if treated early, and aggressively, there is a chance of survival. Without the proper treatment though, it's just a matter of time, a death sentence. :(

I'm sorry. I wish I could give you better news. Please, get these dogs to the vet immediately. Parvo treatment is very expensive, and there's no guarantee that they'll survive, but it's there best chance.

Me and my boyfriend purchased a pomXshih tzu on April 26/2007. Everything was fine with him and then on April 28/2007 he became very ill. I took him to the vet the next morning on an emergency call because it was Sunday. They took some tests and gave him an IV and she called me back that afternoon...
