My 2000 honda civic won't start
Hi I have a 2000 Honda Civic and I had problems with my stereo and I got some help, now my car won't start at all. Im thinking it is the battery but my car is in my Garage and for some reason I can't change the gear to neutral so I can push it out of the Garage. I haven't taken my battery to get it checked yet I wanted to see if any one has other suggestions that this could be. What is weird is that my radio works and the lights worked too so if it was the battery I'm pretty sure none of that would work. I checked the fuses and they all are work. It seemed like it locked up on me but I can turn the tires but for some reason won't let me change gears. I read that it could be the fuel injector cell but I have no idea what that is and it sounds expensive so I'm hoping that is not it, if any one has some answers for me I would appreciate it.

Your brake pedal is used to release a child safety feature of the gear selector, I think on the US model you have to pull up the beauty trim from around the gear selector to gain access to a key slot that will manually release the gear shift, I think there are directions in the owners manual but I think its just like I said. In Japan, the key slot is out in the open so our cars here use a different beauty trim piece.

Your battery may be weak, your brake switch could be bad or the child safety feature shift lock solenoid could be bad, your first step is to get a jump. Does you car have a secure radio with an anti theft mode in it, I do not think this will prevent the car from starting, it will only prevent the radio from working again until you get the code from Honda.

enecymecca, try installing a new Ignition Control Module (ICM). I would also replace the rotor, since you changed the distributor cap.
