Mtd transmatic lawn tractor model 760
I have a MTD model 760-779 transmatic lawn tractor. Last year the ignition switch stopped working or rather when you turned it to start it wouldn't do anything. I was able to bypass it and jump the starter directly and get it to start but this year it just turns over when I jump the starter and will not fire. I am a good mechanic (cars,boats) but my electrical skills are not that good. Any suggestions on what the problem might be? Thank in advance

Hi,
Why did you not replace the switch? It has the Start circuit, the Light circuit and the Ignition ground circuit in it. If on goes bad, can the others be that far behind? Peace, Clarke PS 760-779 refers to a whole family of machines with 700 series frames and various sheet metal - 760, 7xx, etc. |

Was cutting the grass and the engine stopped. Tried to restart but cannot. The battery is fine, the oil was just changed, the gas is clean and fresh, the carburetor is clean, the air filter is clean, the choke works fine, the spark plugs are clean and dry. The enine turns but won't fire up.
