Retraumatized ptsd
Punched by a drunk 6 years ago and developed ptsd. Husband physically assaulted me a week ago, apologized. Now have many ptsd symptoms and feel so desperate, alone and afraid. This is the 2nd time he has hurt me in 2 years and we have been together 29 years. He said it was not assault and says I provoked him.

My husband restrained me and said it was not assault

Is it?

ALL abusive men say it's their victim's fault. No one can provoke anyone else to commit physical violence.
I am concerned for you - is there anyone you can talk to, perhaps go to for help? Have you tried counselling, without him if he won't go?
Tell me a little more about your situation if you're comfortable doing so. Has he hurt you before? I am in no way excusing him... but is something going on in his life that's stressing him out, is he not well?
I'm so sorry you're in this position and your past history must make it so much worse.

He sounds like my little brother who used to yell, "You MADE me punch you." Yeah, right.
Get out of there. Call the abuse hotline for direction. (Yes, you are a victim of abuse.) The National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1−800−799−SAFE (7233). Here's the link for numbers for all the states: Help in Your Area National Domestic Violence Hotline
Call and talk with a real person, since we can't call you ourselves or you call us.

You needed to have left the first time he punched, you. I am sorry but I feel less sorry for women the second time and seldom sorry when they get beat half to death the third time. I have written too many police reports at the hospital on beaten women who in a day or two will bail them out of jail.
He makes you think it is your fault, that is what they do, What are you suppose to do now.
Leave him, divorce him and move on with your life.
