Can I date my child's school principal
Is it acceptable for a parent to date the principal where her children attend. So he's tried to get her children into a school sponsored preschool program, which he has no authority or control over, he's been seen with his arm around her in the office, there have been behavior issues with one child, (not related to the relationship), they have "meetings" a couple of times each week, and he's real flirty when she picks up the kids.
How do I know if he will be objective if there are behavior issues with her son and another student? They met as a result of her 5 yo behavior issues.

Am I the only one who has an issues with this?

Also. He is married maybe "separated", she is going through a divorce and her house burnt down 1 1/2 years ago and is recovering from that and is trying to go back to school and get a job... small community.

Is this you, or are you talking about someone else? What is your relationship in all of this?

Am I the only one who has an issues with this?
    Hello g:

Yes. Unless you can show how HIS business negatively effects YOUR business, his business is NONE of your business.

There are no legal ramifications to the scenario you describe. Moral ones maybe, but who am I, or you, to judge?

As long as the principal isn't underage, and neither is she, she can date him, and he can date her.

I mis-stated the initial question, my apologies.
I am a parent who lives next door to the school and I'm on the fence about this. Some friends are all up in arms, others are myob, I see both perspectives. I've heard that some teachers are upset though.
I'm just seeking some objective opinions is all.
    No, its not about me.

Personally, as long as it doesn't interfere in his job, no conflict of interests, then I don't care. I guess the flaunting of it is what I have a problem with.

There is no problem at all dating the parent of one of the kids. What is a problem is showing any favorite issues or showing too much "touchy feely" while working.

If he can't remain professional in his dealings with her and her children at school, it's a problem. If she or her children expect. Or receive, some sort of special treatment, it's a problem.

I could very well see some of the parents going to the school board on it if any conflict of interest is perceived.

As was said, legally, not a problem, although the potential could be there.

He will have to be very careful not to overstep the boundaries of what is considered appropriate given his position, and that can be objective.
