    [QUOTE]How do I change the
    Washer in the tap?[/QUOTE
Turn the water off at the house shut off and open the tap a little. Now unscrew the large nut( see image) directly under the handle. With the bonnet packing nut unscrewed you may back the stem and washer assembly out counter clockwise. Remove the washer and check the seat for rough spots or nicks, If you find any the tap will have to be replaced. If the seats O(K then take the washer in and have it replaced. Reassemble and test. Leak all better now? Good luck, Tom

Sometimes all you have to do is tighten up this nut and the problem may be fixed. I would try that before doing the other. Just do not over tighten it.

Hi and Welcome to The Plumbing Page. At AskMeHelpDesk.com.
The OP's describing a leak past the seal, not a bonnet packing leak. But thanks for your input, It was good thinking. Tom

Sometimes you just have to tighten the nut on it before changing the washer. I would try that first. Good luck.
