Dating
So, there's this girl, and she's pretty interesting and quirky and funny, yada yada. Anyway, I'm 16 and she's either 13 now or going to be turning 13 (Not really sure, as she told me she was 13, but then said that she'll be turning 13 in April.) Anyway, is it wrong to like her? I mean, I'm not talking love or anything, just "like" her. And if anything, would it be okay to just wait a year or so, and then, and only then, start "dating." And when I say dating, I mean just that. She wouldn't be my girlfriend, just dating, like to the movies and the park and what not, and with supervision. Yes, it sounds odd, but the thing is, I don't find many people with that certain "umph" that makes them appealing. So what do you think?

So she's 12, I would not even consider persueing a friendship with this child in 4 years! Never mind 1!
Time for you to to look at your own social circle and girls your own age to become friends with and possibly date, a 12 year old is not an age appropriate friend for a 16 year old, even if she was 13.
Move on before you land yourself in very hot water indeed.

No its not wrong to like her. But she is a bit young for you to be interested in romantically. Before you can even consider dating her, you need to make sure of her age and, more importantly, whether her parents will allow her to date. In my opinion 13 is too young to date one on one.
I also think you need to understand more about dating. You said; "And when I say dating, I mean just that. She wouldnt be my girlfriend, just dating". You don't "just date" a teen girl. The purpose of dating is to get to know how you really feel about a person. So if after a couple of dates, you don't feel you want to be exclusive, then you need to make that clear.

This young lady is way too young for you. I'm assuming you are in High School, are there no girls there? You should not be doing anything with her. What could you possibly have in common with a girl that age?

While its okay to like some one for their oomph, its very inappropriate for a 16 year old to act on those feelings with a 13 year old (your ages next year).
As a dad, imagine what I would tell a 16 year old wanting to date my 13 year old daughter, supervised or not!
HINT: You won't like it not one bit, nor will you ever want to hear it again!
So this is a bad idea in my opinion!

I am sorry, but she is way too young for you. My advice is find someone your age or just focus on your grades and getting ready for college and then in the near future the right girl that is appropriate for you will come around
