I am 14 and going out with a 17 year old what is so bad nothing is going to happen

The bad thing is that you're way too young. There are laws to protect children, and you're a child, he's almost an adult.

There are no official laws on dating, if that's all you're doing, but, even with dating only, your parents have to agree to this. If not, he could be in a lot of trouble.

So, do your parents know you're dating this boy? Do they agree to the two of you dating? If not, and they protest, he can be charged, even just for dating you.

If it goes beyond just dating, and becomes sexual, then he's in for a world of trouble. Including jail, and being a sex offender on the registered sex offender list for the rest of his life.

I guess my question is, is it worth it? If you really care about him, why not wait until you're old enough to decide who to date legally?

It wasn't clear whether this was an answer to an old thread or a question on your own, so I treated it as a question. So what is so bad about a 14 yr old girl dating a 17 yr old boy? I can think of several things. First, the two of you are at different stages of development. A 17 yr old is at a different stage of his life, than a 14 yr old. His wants from a relationship will be different than a 14 yr old girl's. Second, at 14, you have less experience then he is likely to have.

You say that nothing is going to happen, but you can't know that for sure. But the bottom line here is your parents. If they approve of your dating him then its OK as long as you don't let him go too far.
