I was woundering if I could get emancipated when I get 16, I'm only 15 and have a year to go. I live with my father, my mom died wheni was 2 of drugs. I go to school and get good grades. But my father and I don't get along we fight he yells at me and says I'm not worth a **** and can't do anything right. I clan the house and try to do things right but everything I do isn't good enough for him. He thinks that for me to do something it has to benefit him. He has a different girlfriend over ever weekend and he doesn't care about anything but his self and his women.He drinks and does drugs. He calls the cops on me and I call the cops on him when we argue. Everyday after work he comes home and sits on the porch and drinks evrytime I ask him can we do something he has an excuse. He put me in councleing and its not me that needs it. He tells the counceler that everything is my fault. I try so hard and nothing is right. I can get a job before I get 16 and I have a place where I can stay and pay rent at a friends house his grandparents have a little house I could rent and for cheap nut is nice. I want to get away from all this before he ruins my life.. do you think I have a chance getting emancipated at 16.

In order for you to be emancipated you have to prove that you can take care of yourself. That means that you have to have a job, you have to make enough money to pay for your own place, the food you'll eat, your medical bills, everything.

Have you thought about calling CPS? If your father is an addict, which is what I got from your post, and he's abusive, then you should not be forced to stay in that home. That doesn't mean that you can be emancipated, because you clearly don't have an income, and you can't provide for yourself. But, if CPS finds your home unfit, and your father unfit, they will remove you from the home, place you in foster care.

Yea I was going to get a job I have some where I can work and somewhere I can rent and pay for it and my food and medical. But I don't want to do it until I get 16 and drive and he's not really abusive but sometimes he gets a little rouhg. But I rather not stay in a foster care I would like to take care of myself and still go to school and graduate. But I love him but he makes me not want to be here anymore. It never ends. I mean I may not be perfect but I try so hard. Even tonight he yells at me I can clean the house and its not good enough. This morning he told me I wasn't good enough to be his daughter.its not far. I guess he will realize when I'm 18 that he won't have me anymore..

You can't just move, you will have to hire an attorney and file to get emancipated, and your parents can fight it.
