I am trying to put a new switch in this fan for my neighbor. She had someone try it once and he completely botched the job... cut wires and used different colors not to mention the wrong switch. Is there anyway to get a wiring schematic for the fan/light so that I can put it back together correctly?

Try going to the fan manufacturer's website. Many times they'll have tech info regarding their products. But from what you said, isn't it the wiring leading TO the fan that's "botched up" and incorrectly color coded?

I'm sorry, it's the switch on the fan itself you're changing. Yes, try the website of the manufacturer.

A quick way is to visit a local retailer selling a similar fan (manufacturer etc), and borrow the included instruction sheet to photocopy the pertinent sketch. Most vendors are willing to go the extra distance for your grateful patronage.
