Obstetrical malpractice is when an obstetrician is negligent either by a physical act or an act of ommission.
Do you feel that you may have experienced obstetrical malpractice?

What do you mean by "highly personal"? All lawsuits are highly personal due to the nature of the discovery process. That means that all facts must be proven by whatever means it takes.

First, it is unlikely that your friend encountered obstetrical malpractice if "he" told you about it. His wife or girlfriend may have, but men don't give birth.
Second, malpractice of any sort is very hard to prove, but your friend's best bet is to look for local lawyers that specialize. The local chapter of the ABA may be able to help there. Most will give a free consultation. The attorney will know what records to subpoena.

If there is, has the person been to another doctor who claims this, since you will need other medical professionals to testify in court that the other doctor did something wrong.

Malpractice is the medical profession NOT doing what should have been done by standard practice OR doing what should NOT have been done. You call your local Bar Association and ask for a referral to an Attorney who specializes in malpractice.
Then it is placed in suit (if you have a case) and then YOU pay experts to testify on your behalf.
It's a very expensive type of lawsuit and difficult to win.
