My boyfriend and I have been together for two years and he just recently told me he cheated on me with a girl six months ago. He felt very ashamed and sorry for what he did that he even told his mentor before he told me so he would help him with the process of telling me about the infidelity.

He promised that if I stayed he would do everything in his power to make things better because he wants to marry me. He even agreed we would both take couples therapy with his mentor to help us both heal.

Though I am hurting inside I still love him but I don't know how to trust him anymore and I'm scared he'll even do it again when we're married.

Should I give us another chance?

Your choice. I would leave, too much self respect for myself to stand around to someone who has cheated. But if you see it in your heart to forgive him, then you completely forgive him and never bring this up again, trust will come hard at first but it will get easier as you heal from this wound.

What have you got to lose by counseling with his mentor? He is either worth the trouble or NOT!

My heart tells me he's worth a second chance but my head tells me I should have more self-respect and move on. It's a battle :/ The thing is he has been extra sweet and very caring and sensitive with my feelings that he makes it harder for me to leave if I ever decided to. He said we have the rest of our lives for him to make up for being stupid. I'm afraid I'm not giving myself enough self-respect if I stay.

If I were you, I would leave, only because I've been in your shoes before. I learned that, when cheating is involved, trying to keep the relationship's flame from going is a daunting task.
