I've been trying to get pregnant for about a year but I have not had any luck I'm 22 years old very young but I've been having so much difficultity getting pregnant. I have irregular periods but lately I have had more period almost two weeks in and off with spotting in between with a bad fishy odor I'm very scared that there might be something wrong with me I'm STD free but I think it might be a bigger issue... Also I wanted to know is the drug clomid good for me to take even though I'm having irregular periods?

With irregular cycles it can be more difficult to become pregnant. Odds are you are not ovulating regularly, so that will decrease the number of opportunities to conceive.

Since you have been trying for about a year, and have irregular cycles, you may want to consider seeing your gyn for a preconception check-up and discuss your concerns. Your doctor may order some blood work and do an ultrasound to see if a cause for the irregular cycles can be determined. Sometimes it may be as simple as having some meds or supplements to adjust hormone levels.

Clomid is for inducing ovulation when a woman is not ovulating on her own. It would need to be prescribed. Although I know it can be purchased online, it is not something you would want to take without having had some blood work done to know whether you are ovulating, as it is not without side effects. It is also a medication that should be monitored to determine how effective it is and whether a change in dosage would become necessary after some use.

Unfortunately some doctors do prescribe it without testing for ovulation and without proper monitoring.

Your doctor will likely want to try to regulate your cycles first, and then check for regular ovulation.
